Look at the website

Privacy First strives for a free society in which every person can make their own, autonomous choices. They are committed to the privacy of citizens both online and offline. The current trend of being followed everywhere is unfortunately also the case online. By means of cookies, which are placed as soon as you use third-party services, your online behavior can be tracked without you realizing it.

For Privacy First this is a no-go, so a WordPress website had to be built that was completely free of so-called 'analytical' and 'marketing' cookies. A phenomenon that you hardly encounter online these days. A second challenge was to bring structure back to the website. The old website had almost 1000 articles, which had to be indexable for users in a logical way. Articles also had to be linked to a legal case. Privacy First regularly takes legal action against large organizations, in order to defend the interests of citizens. The course of a lawsuit had to be made clear in a clear way. Our UX/UI Specialists solved this with a unique layout and web design.

The approach

A logical structure for articles and legal cases

In order to be able to bring back the structure for articles and lawsuits, we quickly decided in the meetings with the client to opt for a somewhat traditional news site layout. However, we chose to give it a new look by using a palette of pastel colours, alternating with harder colours for the parts that had to stand out.

For the lawsuits, we developed a timeline option, which is divided into three stages of the process: start, progress and follow-up. Articles can be linked to one of these three stages, so that when reading an article, the process can easily be followed and the next article in the process can be quickly found.

In order to be completely cookie-free, we had to approach a few things differently. Something we have been doing for years is hosting the Google Fonts used locally, so that we are not stuck with the tracking cookies that Google Fonts bring with them without asking. Furthermore, we have closed off iframes for videos behind an extra 'consent wall'. If you want to watch a video on the website, you have to actively give permission for this.

The result

A structured news site, completely free of tracking and marketing cookies

For us, this was the first website that was completely free of tracking and marketing cookies, which made the project much more impressive for us. Of course, we always strive to minimize their use, but never before has the need been as high as it is now.

The new structure in the articles makes it much easier for the user to pick out interesting topics. The articles themselves are also easier for the customer to create, because we have set up a dummy-proof custom builder for this. This consists of predefined content blocks that can be loaded. With these blocks, an article can be created in no time without any effort.
