In order to be able to bring back the structure for articles and lawsuits, we quickly decided in the meetings with the client to opt for a somewhat traditional news site layout. However, we chose to give it a new look by using a palette of pastel colours, alternating with harder colours for the parts that had to stand out.
For the lawsuits, we developed a timeline option, which is divided into three stages of the process: start, progress and follow-up. Articles can be linked to one of these three stages, so that when reading an article, the process can easily be followed and the next article in the process can be quickly found.
In order to be completely cookie-free, we had to approach a few things differently. Something we have been doing for years is hosting the Google Fonts used locally, so that we are not stuck with the tracking cookies that Google Fonts bring with them without asking. Furthermore, we have closed off iframes for videos behind an extra 'consent wall'. If you want to watch a video on the website, you have to actively give permission for this.
